Getting Started

At Legendary Athletics we want to help you find the fitness program that is the best fit for you, and to ensure you’ve gotten a solid foundation that you can confidently build upon when you start working out in one of our trainer-led group classes. With those two goals in mind, all new members are required to complete one of our three introductory program options (OnRamp, Fast Track or Personal Assessment) before enrolling in one of our core fitness programs. By the end of each of these introductory programs you will not only be able to complete most movements well, you’ll also have the best idea of which Legendary Athletics Program best suits your overall personal fitness goals.

OnRamp Semi Private Class

The OnRamp is a 3 hour class that introduces participants to our programs and teaches you the fundamental movements that will allow you to join our program workouts safely and productively.  OnRamp classes are intentionally small (averaging 1 to 3 people) to make sure you receive a lot of personal attention, insight and feedback from our professional trainers. Each class consists of skill work geared toward that session’s workout followed by the workout itself. This allows you to find exercise scalings for your own ability level and will introduce you to our full range of programming in a way that no other introduction class could. In the OnRamp, you will:

  • Experience a workout from our CrossFit program
  • Set your personal fitness baseline and attainable goals
  • Learn the correct form to complete movements safely and efficiently
  • Determine what your appropriate scaling level is for weighted movements
  • Learn the progressions that will help you work towards more advanced movements

OnRamp group classes are offered on as scheduled basis at a time that works best for you Monday through Sunday.  We will attempt to schedule you with other athletes that are also beginning their fitness journey.  If you feel that you require more time to secure a foundation, contact us to discuss your options for personal training.

Fast Track Personal Training

Our Fast Track option is designed for the introductory member whose schedule does not allow them to attend our OnRamp Semi Private Class, or who would like the additional advantage of working one-on-one with a certified personal trainer. Similar to the OnRamp, you will learn the fundamental movements of our programs as you prepare to join our regular group workouts. Since the Fast Track is completed through one-on-one training, we are able to condense the material covered into five sessions, allowing you to get started in one of our regular programs (CrossFit or Velocity) more quickly. An added benefit is that you can schedule your personal training on days and times that are convenient for you and your busy schedule.

Personal Assessment

For those with prior experience we offer assessments to determine if they are able to skip our introductory programs. Assessments consist of a test of athletic movements followed by a workout, all of which will allow us to assess your level of fitness, test your form and assist you in determining which of our programs is best suited for you. In order to bypass our OnRamp programs through an assessment, you must show a solid foundation in the fundamental movements of our programs. If it’s determined during the assessment that you do not yet have a foundation equivalent to our introductory program (OnRamp), we may refer you to one or two personal training sessions to fill in a few gaps, or to an OnRamp session. Movements reviewed / tested in the assessment are:

  • Push Press
  • Push Jerk
  • Split Jerk
  • Deadlift
  • Sumo Deadlift High Pull
  • Clean
  • Snatch
